Is this compitition a joke or what. Where are the Regional winners and what the heck caused the delay. who were you waiting for to submit their entry. Did not expect such curruption from such a reputable station...

@MK The regional winners can be viewed under the winners tab or by using the direct link http://radiostar.ca/winners-2013/.

The delays and extensions were due to technical issues with the submission site itself. Radiostar.ca had a few different glitches during the original campaign which made it difficult and at times impossible for contestants to submit their entries. As a result, the Radiostar committee extended the deadline to accommodate those who were having issues.

Radiostar is organized and run by an impartial third party and for all the conspiracy theorists on this thread, I assure you that all entries were listened to during the voting period and given the exact same consideration. (No fat cats involved, just a panel of music lovers.) Should you have any further issues or concerns, feel free to contact me directly as I would be more than happy to discuss. 416-323-6844.

I agree. The original dates should have been kept as is, with no delays. The due date for entry was January 24. If a chance was being given for late submitters, that is completely unfair!
    Keep things consistence and organized.

I agree as well! Where is the regional winner? And i'm glad I wasn't the only one annoyed with the delays.

I agree with all of you, it is not fair for us to put time, effort and hopes in a contest that is not serious. You would think because its a popular radio station things would be kept professionally but this is not the case at all. All contestants deserve respect. We demand to see at least the regional winners list, even though we know now those winners were probably arranged previously.

Whats the holdup, the dates keep changing. The format keeps changing, and still no regional winner. Which one of Mary Simon's protege are they waiting for ? Sad it could be such a good prestigious contest, but they keep screwiing it up.

Has anyone tried contacting the station? I'm sure that it will be a waste of time, but it might be worth a shot.

Seriously, are we really finding out when "Fan Voting" opens? This is so unorganized and not fair. I really didn't think this would be the case with a competition like this.

A deadline is a deadline. You're quick to get us to rush and prep up a song and send it in....but slow to follow your own rules. In fact you even changed the date, which we all know was for the people who were late in sending songs in and requested to be able to still enter. The answer, professionally, should have been NO! A deadline is a deadline - and those who could have had a chance to win may have been bumped now because a late sender got the win.
Completely disappointed in the process of this competition. I do hope next years changes will be made and the rules will be kept AS IS!
I feel my time has been wasted - checking the radio station, following the instructions carefully, rushing to get my song in, checking the websit....only to find no answers, no respect!

Ps. This is the third time I tried to post - they probably disabled it. Not sure if this post will post!

So fan voting was supposed to open today... still no regional winner list

Has a list been posted yet? Very Curious I hope we hear soon and best of luck everyone!!

Seems only Q104 announced their regional winner:

I sent an email to Mary, but haven't heard back. Hopefully the contest is still on!

    Good luck everyone!

It's unfair that fan voting has begun, so radio stations who have announced their winners, are getting a head start. Ours still have not announced, and we're losing out on voting time. Thanks a lot!

    Good luck all.

@JD Hey JD, I don't believe fan voting has begun if you check the RadioStar website http://radiostar.ca/fan-voting/

Looks like they're still in the process of determining who the regional winners are and obviously the dates now are all going to have to be updated.

There was a contact number listed on the submission page previously when the contest was open for entrants. If anyone has that, I would suggest calling and inquiring about what's going on!

The anticipation is killing me, but I'm glad that that I'm not suffering alone. At least we didn't have to pay to enter this...

@B Bop If these comments never existed I think I would of shrivelled up from the anticipation! Also, had to say props to your name lmao

Its probably taking longer to judge the ontario region ....esp Toronto cuz they would have received exponentially more entries than the other regions.hopefully it will be available soon. Sadly, as it is a free contest....they can pretty much take as long as they want. We are at their mercy.lets hope for the best.

If you go to radiostar.ca and click on the fan voting tab and register with an email address and password a link will be emailed to you. Click that link and it will show you the winners for each region and you can vote.

This is nonsense. The winner for the Toronto region (nate hall) is already on billboards emerging artists chart. Furthermore, the song in the contest was co-written by producer zubin thakkar....who also has written for other songs that have charted in Canada. This is against the Rules for this contest and should therefore be disqualified!!!!! Am I the only one that sees this??????
    1. JD posted on 02/12/2013 01:25 PM
@Sammy I agree. The rules specifically stated this and he should be disqualified. This contest is ridiculous and unfair.
    2. SS posted on 02/12/2013 02:03 PM
@Sammy I agree!!! Definitely not fair. Just proves how rigged this contest is.

congratulations radiostar you picked your winner THEN you opened the contest up to the nation. I agree with Sammy,JD,SS. This is NOT being a sore loser its holding the "Radio Star" to it's self proclaimed rules and regulations. Its clear that Virgin Radio is looking for the next "Justin Bieber" which I am not! I must have missed where in the contest they were asking for this. I was under the impression they were looking for a singer songwriter! So the winner "Nate Hall" is already on billboards emerging artists ? LOL what a JOKE! I guarantee that virgin does a some BS cover up OR most likely we wont hear anything about it. Much like the constant changing of deadlines and complete LACK of coverage from 99.9 AND their DJ's. I'd love to know how they chose the regional winner? Who was this alleged runner up? And the date they chose the winner. Feel good my fellow singer/songwriters this was NOT the contest for us anyway...

I think that I just yakked up something disgusting in my mouth. This is a really great microcosm of the music industry in Canada, and why it will always be so stale. You can't even consider this to be a real contest.

In the meantime, I'm going to go make that B Bop album that I've always wanted to make and submit the absolute worst song possible for next year. Please wish me luck.

It's sad that these fat cats in the Canadian music industry have to manipulate everything - and so blatantly at that - as there is no governing body that regulates this type of thing. They want to protect the little that they have and just fabricate and manipulate everything to try to squeeze out as much money as they can in this small market. The funny thing - they probably could have had Justin Beiber but it took someone in the states to make him a star. Same goes for Drake (don't really like his "music" but he's making money). There is SO MUCH talent here in Canada that never gets a chance. I'm considering other markets just because of this. Is it really worth trying to fight your way into a market that is so corrupt? Why is it okay that z103 can purchase rights to songs for this market and put it on their very own compilation cd's and then turn around and spin the heck outta those same songs all summer long so people will want to purchase their compilation? It's ludicrous...and as you can tell by the rant lol I'm kinda fed up. I hope people give Canadian artists a chance, cuz I've seen so many talented ones here that don't get a chance from their own nation.
