The crowd raises their hands and starts chanting...  Its starts low and then gets louder and louder and LOUDER...

Some people know him as Steven Markowitz, more people know him as Hoodie.  Hoodie Allen that is.

And he and his band absolutely KILLED it at The Phoenix on Monday night!

I'll be the first to admit, I havent been a fan for long, but now that I am - I'm hooked.

The journey that Hoodie Allen has taken has been a pretty wild one.  Born and raised in NYC, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in marketing and finance and even worked at Google before giving it up to take on his passion for music.

He's written two albums and his latest "All American" is blowing the charts up.  It debuted at #1 on iTunes, since then he and his band arent looking back.

Toronto has been good to Hoodie.  He sold out Wrong Bar, they moved him to Mod Club.  He sold out Mod Club, they moved him to The Phoenix and next time, I guarantee he will need a bigger venue.  There is no containing his fans, affectionately known as the Hoodie Mob wherever he goes.

His music is catchy, its enegetic and infectious (in a good

Check out his first single from All American - "No Interruption"

And my fav - "No Faith In Brooklyn"

Hoodie Allen has also embraced social media in every way.  With more than 76-thousand Twitter followers and more than 135-thousand fans on Facebook - word is spreading about just how good this guy is.  He has connected with his audience in ways that I have never seen with an artist (who btw is independent for now) answering thousands of tweets and staying at events until every last fan gets a picture or autograph.  Thats dedication.  Thats what will bring this guy even greater success.

I'm pumped that I got to see it in its humble beginnings.  His tour will eventually take him to the UK and Ireland next month.  I hope one day to crank it on our radio station too.

For a single night in Toronto though, the 'All American Tour' became the 'All Canadian Tour' - he and his fans loved every minute of it.
